The visionary, driving force behind ICRAVE is Lionel Ohayon – a global leader in hospitality design. Born and bred in Toronto, Canada, Lionel graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Architecture in 1994. His thesis project – “Where We Work, Where We Live, Where We Play” – focused on the impact of virtual space on real space. This premise was brought to life in 2002 with the launch of ICRAVE as a two-person venture in New York City. Since then, Lionel has grown the studio into a 40-employee, international award- winning operation that is recognized as one of the world’s most innovative companies. Today, ICRAVE specializes in reinventing clients’ businesses and solving ongoing challenges in a shifting landscape. The process blends digital and physical design solutions that transform brands into meaningful consumer experiences with lasting impact.
Lionel is intimately involved in all studio assignments – developing strategies, sparking creative visions and collaborating with individual project teams to ensure that each solution is dynamically implemented. He views design from a sociological standpoint, always contemplating the bigger picture: from the impact on city planning to people’s interactions. This approach produces spaces and experiences that work effectively and efficiently in their unique environments.
